The UBBC has progressed significantly over recent times and aims to offer rowing to those students who attend The University of Birmingham whatever experience or level they may be at. The club aims to support those who are interested in taking up, or continuing in the sport and to provide them with all the coaching they may require. The club encourages its members to compete at various events (local and major) throughout the UK.
Most of the training takes place on the Severn at Worcester, where we have recently acquired a Boat House, just opposite Worcester Cathedral. The club also rows on Edgbaston Reservoir, where through kind service from Birmingham Rowing Club, the UBBC is able to store its boats within their Boat House and use their facilities. The club also holds two training camps each year, one in the Winter break and one in the Easter break, the Easter camp usually being held in Europe.
Additional to the training and competition, the club has a great atmosphere and a well-developed social side. Various social events are held throughout the year, the most notable being the Christmas Dinner, the Boat Club Ball and the Annual Pimms Party (perhaps UBBC's most renowned event, staged on a boat which cruises along the River Severn at Worcester).
The club currently has a membership of approximately 100 students of all categories.
