Recruitment 2007:We need YOU!
Both Freshers fayre & our welcome meeting have been and gone. Last chance to join in for the DS is FRIDAY. Please click here to ask about it!
For the Development Squad, we will begin selection very quickly in the first week and will need you to be available several times through the week in the evenings- we can be flexible if necessary, just talk to us!
This year the DS will run slightly differently to the past- we are taking in fewer people and mixing them with a few who started rowing last year, we believe that this will give a better, more enjoyable, and more focused experienced for all. We will be looking for between 10-14 men, 14 women and 4 coxes (no gender requirement at all, but you must be able to weigh less than 60kgs safely). The qualities we are looking for this year are the same as in any other year (read below) but we are taking on fewer people due to coaching restrictions- do not let that put you off, it is your potential that we look at, not how you are now! Any Questions? email us

Selection
- There are no set criteria for selection for the senior squad, however during the first few weeks of the term all athletes (existing and new) will be trialled against each other in order to determine which 20 (for each of men's/women's squads) will be taken on for the rest of the year.
- For the Development Squad we do not look at existing fitness/strength and we do not expect you to have the first idea about rowing! We will put you through some intense and gruelling tests but with the aim of taking on those whopace themselves and finish, not necessarily those who start too fast and cannot complete the course. Determination is key. Where we have too many recruits of the right mental attitude we may then take physical potential (height, body proportions) into account. We find that the initial tests are 'self-selecting' those who would not enjoy the sport do not enjoy these tests, those who do typically stay the course for the whole year.
Cost
- £5 for Athletic Union membership (requirement of all sports clubs/societies)
- Club Membership
- If you have rowing/sculling experience:
-£75 to join Senior squad *If there are a lot of triallists for the senior squad then payment will be split into two sections as for the Development Squad.
- If you have NO rowing/sculling experience:

-£20 on completion of the first Semester.
- To ensure you can complete the training provided, the club insists all members have membership to a gym with a free-weights room, ideally the Munrow Sports Centre gym.
